Skincare Myths

It’s believed that…

  • 1. Chocolate (and fried foods) can cause acne.
The newest research of Acne Resource Center shows that hormones, overactive oil glands, heredity and dead skin cells that lodge in skin pores are what cause acne. So if you love chocolate don’t afraid to eat sometimes a bar of your fave.
  • 2. Concealer should be lighter than your skin tone.
If you buy lighter concealer you may look funny. Pick a concealer that’s yellow-based, and better yet, try out concealers at a department store counter where you can test drive a product on face.
  • 3. You can use a body lotion on your face.
No, it can have different effect on your more sensitive face skin. Companies put fragrances and cheaper ingredients in a body lotion. Perharps you won’t like the result.
  • 4. Best way to spritz perfume: spray first, and after walk into the mist.
All fragrances are made to mix with the heat of your body. So the best is to use perfume on pulse zones - wrists, back of the knees, the base of the throat and just behind the earlobes.
  • 5. Toner is obligatory for skincare.
Cleansers do a good enough job removing excess oils and dirt from skin. Actually toners can dry your skin so only if you oily skin it can be helpful for you but never mind this if you really love your toner. Enjoy it.
  • 6. You can prevent stretch marks with lotion?
Don’t fool yourself. Stretch marks are caused by weight gain or weight loss. Sometimes women get stretch marks because of genes they have. If you get your stretch marks when you were teenager don’t waste your money on the lotions because it won’t help. Start to love yourself as you are.
